Marian is a marketing PhD candidate and contract lecturer at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in New Zealand. She has recently won AUT 2017 Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) and also People's Choice Award at the competition. 3MT is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ). Research master's students and doctoral students who have successfully passed the PGR9 have three minutes to present their thesis and its significance in an inspiring and captivating way. This year, 26 doctoral students entered a 3MT pre-heats where judges chose 6 finalists to compete at the finals. Marian will compete at the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia on 29 September 2017. Her research interests lie in consumer culture, conspicuousness, shopper behavior in retail research and collaborative consumption in the sharing economy. Marian has over nine years’ experience in developing and executing aspects of brand management in a marketing and communications career working overseas with international public relations agencies such as JWT and Weber Shandwick and with luxury retailer, Alfred Dunhill Ltd. and American ballroom dance school, Arthur Murray Ballroom Dancing. In New Zealand, she worked with agencies managing large accounts such as Audi of NZ and Countdown. Marian is a Co-operative Workshop Supervisor and Academic Supervisor with the Co-operative Education Placement Programme.
