1. Summary

Dr Heffernan specialises in analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry for biological and environmental monitoring in human exposure studies and environmental forensics, and has a special interest in unknown compound identification. She is motivated to integrate advanced analytical technology into applied health research by building interdisciplinary networks across industry and academia, and in 2015 was awarded an NHMRC-ARC Dementia Research Fellowship to investigate iron proteins in neurodegenerative disease.
